Happy Holiday Cookies!

Just in time for the holidays, I created these super cute gingerbread and reindeer sugar cookies for a customer of mine.  She needed them for her daughter's holiday class party and since I did not have the right size gingerbread boy or a reindeer cookie cutter, I created my own template and hand cut the cookies shape.  Using my trusted sugar cookies recipe, they baked up perfectly and were ready to be frosted.
The first step that I did was outline all of the gingerbread and reindeer.

Next, I flooded the cookies and added some small details when the royal frosting was still wet.

Once the royal icing on the cookies dries completely, it was time to add more detail to the cookies.  The gingerbread boys got the traditional white wavy cuffs as well as some green stripes and buttons.
The reindeer got eyes and red noses.

After the detail work became dry, I added festive sprinkles to both cookies to give them that little something extra!

To complete the gingerbread boys and reindeer I allowed them to dry overnight and then individually wrapped each cookie and secured the bag with a holiday ribbon.
